Viņa Estampa awarded for "Best White Assemblage" of Chile

Ten judges, 111 vineyards and more than 467 wines breathed life into the seventh version of the prestigious awards that Wines of Chile, the international promoter of Vinos de Chile A.G., grants every year. Viña Estampa was the prizewinner this year of the Best White Blend category with its Reserve Sauvignon Blanc/Chardonnay/Viognier 2009. It also received a gold medal for its Reserve Carménère/Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc 2007 and its Reserve Sauvignon Blanc/Chardonnay/Viognier 2009.

The awards were received by Miguel A. González, president of Viña Estampa, Ricardo Baettig, the winery’s enologist, and Marie Chaisson, sales director of the Americas.

In this edition, the all-Canadian jury of wine experts had the difficult task of bestowing only 14 trophies, 52 gold and 136 silver medals, among others. Canada is the third most important destination of Chilean wines, and this edition represented a unique opportunity to know their preferences and boost Chilean competitiveness in that country.

It is worthwhile noting that this is not the first time Viña Estampa receives such distinctions; in 2007, the winery had already won the award for best red assemblage in Chile.

Estampa is the only Chilean winery to have developed each one of its wines with the fine art of assemblage, carefully blending two or more noble grape varieties, each one bringing its best characteristic qualities to create wines of great balance and unique personality.
